The EU Blue Deal is a project of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), which, after expert debates, decided to announce a new initiative called “Time for the Blue Deal” in October 2023.
It aims to prioritize water in European-scale actions and implement a comprehensive strategy within the Community to protect water resources, improve their availability, and mitigate the effects of increasingly frequent droughts. The preliminary value of the project was estimated at €389 billion. Under the EU Blue Deal, investments of various scales are to be implemented, primarily increasing retention but also including projects related to greywater and closed-loop systems, water use in nuclear energy, water and wastewater monitoring, smart agriculture, etc.
Advising and cooperating in the establishment of the European Blue Deal Committee – a new initiative aimed at participating in EU work on a comprehensive water strategy that will improve water resource availability and counteract shortages. The founders were: Amiblu Poland, the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, the Polish Federation of Entrepreneurs, and the Polish Construction Employers’ Association.
